Cosmetic Dentistry vs General Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry vs general dentistry kind of makes for an interesting topic, because many people are confused between the differences of both terms. For this purpose, let us compare the two. Dentistry has advanced since the earlier days. There were only basic dental care procedures being completed. The type of care consisted of a filling, extraction, repair, bridge and a crown. The purpose of these general dentistry methods were to help prevent tooth decay and repair or extract broken teeth. Also, if the teeth had become inflamed causing an infection from a broken tooth, the dentist would provide an antibiotic. Once the infection was healed then the broken tooth could be extracted and/or filled. Filling a tooth allowed for the tooth to stay in place instead of needing an extraction. As we can see, the basic dental care can be interpreted as the maintenance and prevention of a disease and/or to fix missing and broken teeth.

However, as the dental world advances there are constantly updated dental procedures that  fit a variety of different dental needs. Therefore, cosmetic dentistry has exploded the art of the dental world. This new form of dentistry allow the art of making stained teeth clean and the option to have dental implants for those that have missing teeth. Cosmetic dentistry also enhances stained teeth by using the procedure of  cleaning and whitening the tooth and/or teeth.  In addition, missing teeth can now be replaced with a dental implant, meaning that a fake tooth can now be surgically attached into the gums. Cosmetic dentistry provides a “Makeover” for the teeth. Another example is the porcelain veneers that are placed on to the tooth to change the tooth appearance. Teeth that are stained and/or chipped can be hidden behind the veneer. For these reasons, it should be clear of the difference between cosmetic dentistry vs general dentistry.

Now there is not much of  a difference between braces vs cosmetic dentistry. Previously speaking on the art of cosmetic surgery we know that it is restoring and/or completing a “Makeover” for the teeth,  in addition to the cosmetic surgery. The braces will straighten teeth or pull them together to fill in the space between each tooth . Teeth can be misaligned making people hate their smile. But, braces are made to pull the teeth into the perfect alignment.  The main difference between braces vs cosmetic dentistry is that the cosmetic procedures hide the problems within the teeth. For example, crooked or an empty space in between teeth. Whereas, braces will actually correct the crooked teeth by moving teeth into their proper position.
These different terms in the dentistry field now  covers everything from the basic need to the actual restoration of teeth. It no longer matters what problem a person might have with their teeth. The new advanced technologies will provide a basic dental need or a complete “Makeover”  of the tooth. The answer to stained, crooked, broken, or missing teeth is available by the amazing art of cosmetic dentistry vs general dentistry and braces vs cosmetic dentistry.
